Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation, known as Kahramaa, is the sole operator for electricity and water transmission and distribution in Qatar. Established in July 2000, Kahramaa ensures the reliable supply of these essential utilities to the entire population, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The corporation manages the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity and potable water, maintaining high-quality standards.
Kahramaa undertakes significant infrastructure projects, such as the Umm Al Houl Power and Desalination Plant, which enhances Qatar's utility capacity. The plant has a capacity of 2520 MW of electricity and produces 620,000 cubic meters of potable water daily. The company is also involved in renewable energy initiatives, including solar power projects, collaborating with QatarEnergy to develop solar plants.
As the exclusive utility provider, Kahramaa offers various services, including customer support for connections, billing, and repairs. The corporation plays a vital role in the development and management of Qatar's electricity and water sectors, ensuring continuous and efficient service delivery.
