Rowan Companies, Inc. was a prominent international offshore and land drilling contractor, established in 1923. The company specialized in contract drilling services, operating a fleet of high-specification jack-up rigs and drillships for the oil and gas industry. Rowan was recognized for its advanced cantilever jack-up rigs, including the Gorilla and Super Gorilla class rigs, and was one of the largest offshore drilling contractors globally.

In addition to drilling, Rowan had a Manufacturing division that produced heavy equipment for the drilling, mining, and timber industries, designing and building a significant portion of mobile offshore jack-up drilling rigs. The company also owned Era Aviation, which operated helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to support offshore operations and logistics.

In April 2019, Rowan Companies merged with Ensco plc, forming EnscoRowan plc, which was later rebranded as Valaris plc. Valaris plc continues to uphold Rowan's legacy as a leading offshore drilling contractor, providing a diverse fleet of ultra-deepwater drillships, semisubmersibles, and jack-ups to a global customer base in the oil and gas sector.
