Senelec, or Soci�t� nationale d'�lectricit� du S�n�gal, is the national electricity company of Senegal, established in 1983. As a state-owned utility, it is responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity across the country. Senelec serves approximately 645,000 customers, including residential, commercial, and industrial users.
The company operates a production capacity of about 633 MW, utilizing thermal power plants, hydroelectric sources, and renewable energy projects. Senelec manages the national electricity grid and oversees the import and export of electricity, contributing to regional energy trade. It is also involved in initiatives to diversify Senegal's energy mix, focusing on increasing the share of renewable energy in line with national and international commitments.
Senelec plays a vital role in the energy sector, working under government regulation and actively participating in regional initiatives like the West African Power Pool. The company is committed to modernizing its infrastructure and expanding its influence in West Africa.
