The Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC) is a prominent drilling contractor founded in 1976 through a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group. Currently, EDC is fully owned by EGPC and other stakeholders in the Egyptian petroleum sector. The company operates primarily in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa, employing around 4,700 to over 5,000 people across its offices in Cairo, Saudi Arabia, and various field locations.

EDC owns and operates over 70 drilling rigs, including jack-up rigs and offshore platform rigs, providing a range of drilling and well services. The company focuses on operational excellence and safety, boasting an impressive operational uptime of over 98% and a low Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate. EDC holds a significant market share in Egypt, serving both national and international oil companies, and is actively pursuing contracts in the Gulf region to expand its international presence.
