Eletronuclear, a subsidiary of the state-run power group Eletrobras, focuses on the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in Brazil. Established in 1997, the company consolidates the nuclear operations of its parent group and plays a vital role in the country's energy sector. It operates Brazil's two existing nuclear reactors, Angra 1 and Angra 2, which together generate about 3% of the nation's electricity.
The company is currently revitalizing the construction of Angra 3, a significant project expected to add approximately 1,405 MW of capacity to the national grid. Eletronuclear is also responsible for nuclear plant engineering, safety, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that operations meet both national and international standards. With plans to expand Brazil's nuclear capacity to 10 GW by 2050, Eletronuclear is set to play a central role in the country's energy strategy, supporting sustainable growth and energy security.
