GAIL (India) Limited is a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise established in 1984 under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. Headquartered in New Delhi, GAIL is a leading natural gas transmission and marketing company in India. It operates an extensive national gas grid, with approximately 16,420 kilometers of natural gas pipelines and 2,040 kilometers of LPG pipelines.

The company has diversified its operations to include city gas distribution, liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and marketing, petrochemicals, and exploration and production. GAIL pioneered city gas distribution in India, starting in Delhi in 1997, and has expanded its services to multiple cities. It also runs gas processing plants and an integrated petrochemical plant, contributing significantly to India's energy needs and promoting cleaner fuel usage. GAIL serves a wide range of customers, including industrial consumers, power plants, and residential sectors, supporting the country's energy security.
