Gulf Drilling International (GDI) is Qatar's first and leading drilling company, established in May 2004 as a joint venture between QatarEnergy and Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. Since 2014, GDI has been fully Qatari-owned and is headquartered in West Bay, Doha. The company specializes in providing drilling rigs and related services to oil and gas exploration and production companies in Qatar.

GDI operates a diverse fleet that includes twelve offshore jack-up drilling rigs, seven land rigs, one accommodation barge, and two lift boats, managing a total of about 20 rigs. The company holds a dominant market share in Qatar, with 100% onshore and 67% offshore. GDI emphasizes operational efficiency and safety, offering comprehensive support services to its clients, which include major national and international oil and gas operators.

In 2019, GDI formed a joint venture with Seadrill Limited, named GulfDrill, to enhance its capabilities for QatarEnergy�s North Field Expansion drilling program. With a workforce of over 1,600 employees, GDI is committed to local employment and plays a significant role in Qatar's oil and gas sector.
